How to draw LTD

Zentangle pattern: LTD. Image © Linda Farmer and TanglePatterns.com. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. You may use this image for your personal non-commercial reference only. The unauthorized pinning, reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal.Recently we had a cat-inspired tangle, today we have one inspired by a dog.

LTD is a fun and easy tangle from Cleveland, Ohio, tangler Patricia Cosiano who shared her Gutz tangle with us some time ago.

Patricia tells us how LTD came about,

I adapted it from a design I saw on my foster dog’s harness.

Her name is Lucy, and I call her LTD (Lucy the Dog!).

Meet Lucy … awwwwwwwwww, look at that face … who could resist this tangle??

Lucy the dog, by Patricia Cosiano

You’ll notice for my example I’ve embellished the basic LTD a little with some tiny orbs on the ends of the strokes and repeated across the grid. A bit of graphite shading in the center adds to a sense of spinning. As with most tangles, remember to turn your tile so your hand is comfortably drawing the strokes in the same position.

Patricia illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing LTD here and she includes two variations including an offset pattern. She features LTD in a Zentangle® tile with several other tangles from the site. I particularly like how Patricia has shaded parts of the underlying grid, giving the LTD section an embossed appearance.

Awwwwwwww! Lucy The Dog. What a sweetheart. How wonderful of you to foster a sweet dog. We just gave a sweet little dog a loving forever home. He was at the Humane Society and wanted a home sooooo bad. He’s a Dachshund mix (most likely Beagle by the pictures we’ve seen) and such a lover and couch potato in the house and tears it up and goes after gophers outside. Oh, and his name is Augie (Augie Doggie 😀 )

Ummm, this is about tangles, isn’t it. LTD is a beautiful simple tangle. I love it. And with that sweet face as a namesake, how could I not love it? 🙂 I’ll be using it frequently, I’m sure.

    • Patricia Cosiano

Thanks, Melena! This really is a simple pattern–glad you like it.

Good luck with your Augie Doggie. He’s lucky to have a loving home.

  • Maryellen

This tangle is right up my alley! Quick, simple, not a lot of thought. Thanks, Patricia! ????????. As a tangler, I appreciate the less detailed tangles. The old eyes sometimes just can’t handle all the detail anymore! ????????

  • Joy Vander Schaaf

This is a cute pattern and since I like to tangle “comma” type designs, this should be fun to incorporate with my tangles. Thanks for sharing.

  • Mary Lou

Love LTD. It looks dainty and airy. As I am sure Lucy is !

    • Patricia Cosiano

Thank you Mary Lou! I do love the airiness of this pattern. Sometimes you need a pattern that has open space like this one. Lucy (the dog!) is not very dainty, but she is a sweetie!
      Enjoy this pattern!

Hey, thanks for sharing, and congrats on having another pattern posted. I love Lucy (no TV reference intended!) picture 😉

    Beryl

    • Patricia Cosiano

Thanks, Beryl! I’m excited to add to our Zentangle resources. Lucy’s middle name is Desiree, just like Lucy of I Love Lucy fame.
      Enjoy the pattern!

  • Kathy Hinshaw

This pattern looks open and airy, nice addition. And LTD is so cute!!!
Thanks for taking an animal into your home; I recently adopted a kitten, and am I ever glad to have her! A million laughs and very loving in between the bouts of her getting “the rips” which is my term for that activity where they are running around the house at about 90 MPH.
    Thanks for posting!

    • Patricia Cosiano

Thanks, Kathy! LTD is really a cutie. I have a cat also–when I adopted her as a kitten, she would hang on the curtains, then turn around to see if I was watching! Love “the rips”–she is 7 years old, and still does the wild running around, usually late at night!

      Enjoy the tangle!

  • So simple and so easy. Thanks for the share. And a hug to Lucy the dog!
