Tangle Refresher 112 – Featuring how to tangle a pumpkin, and “Ways Floridians pretend it’s Fall”

Tangle Refresher! This morning one of my local newspapers, Fort Lauderdale’s Sun-Sentinel, published a photogallery titled, “Ways Floridians pretend it’s fall“.

It’s a tongue-in-cheek look at how we view Fall and I’ve taken the liberty of transcribing a selection of the photo captions. But for the full fun of it please do visit the gallery linked above and enjoy the photos to go with the captions. Tip: before you start viewing the gallery, click the Show Caption link at the bottom left of the first photo, and you’re all set.

Floridians pretend it’s Fall by …

  1. Eating lots of apples – You can even dip them in caramel.
  2. Unpacking all your sweaters – … and then not wearing any of them.
  3. Carve a pumpkin underwater! – They do it every year in the Florida Keys.
  4. Starting up the fire pit – … and then sit as far away as possible.
  5. Eat a pumpkin flavored protein bar – You can snack on it while you walk on the beach.
  6. Decorating for Halloween – Your yard with skeletons and demons will have the advantage of it feeling like Hell outside.
  7. Buy pumpkins, but don’t carve them – The Florida heat doesn’t mix well with your jack-o’-lantern.
  8. Dress like it’s fall – Even though you’re sweating miserably beneath all the layers.
  9. Burn a fall-scented candle – It might not feel like fall, but it can smell like it.
  10. Touching your steering wheel without burning your hands – No more second-degree burns!
  11. Cinnamon Brooms – Make your home smell like fall, even if it smells like summer outside.
  12. Parking closer to buildings – You no longer have to park under the shade of a tree in the back of the parking lot.
  13. Not burning your feet on the sand – You can now walk on the beach!
  14. Enjoying it not raining EVERY day – You can now take an afternoon walk without getting drenched.
  15. Ice cream not melting – You now can enjoy that treat for two minutes longer!

Enjoy a beautiful weekend! 🙂

Linda, I really enjoyed your quoted bit about how Floridians enjoy fall! It just occurred to me that somebody could make a fortune by designing very cool and comfortable one-layer clothing with a “layered look” – i.e. it looks like you`re wearing several layers! (We might even have some fun on Zentangle with that, mixing stripes, plaids, polka dots, things you wouldn`t really be caught dead wearing together). That might be more of a challenge using just black and white, however! 🙂
