How to draw (O)

Zentangle pattern: (O)Happy September the 1st and Happy Labor/Labour Day, all those celebrating. And if you’re still with me today, here’s another tangle pattern from Damy Teng.

(O) is so named, because it’s composed of the following strokes: ( O ) . How hard is that? And how cool to create a tangle from them.

Apparently having punctuation as part of a pattern name is a difficult thing for a software filing system to swallow. So you’ll find this tangle filed under the “O’s”. And I trust we won’t encounter any more odd tangle names or they’ll be too difficult to remember or locate. For more from Zentangle® on “Naming your pattern”, see the SUBMIT YOUR PATTERN page.

Damy’s inspiration was this wallpaper sample which she saw in a restaurant and has deconstructed and developed into the lovely pattern you see below.

Damy's inspiration for (O)

(O) makes liberal use of the Zentangle® technique of rounding on the ( and ) strokes. That little bit of shading on the orbs really makes a big difference to this tangle.

Here are Damy’s step-by-step instructions for drawing (O) and in her example she shows some interesting variations.
