How to draw SPARKOOL

Zentangle pattern: SparkoolThe jewel-like Sparkool tangle pattern is shared with us by Indianapolis CZT®, Lara Williams.

Lara writes that the steps for Sparkool begin like Sadelle Wiltshire’s Bandola and go from there. The starting point for both tangles is Sandy Bartholmew’s Coop tangle from her book, Yoga for Your Brain.

For who knows what reason, lately I’ve been tackling tangles sideways and upside down. After several practice runs with the steps as Lara shows them, I learned I could draw the strokes in Step 1 more consistently parallel, equal in length, and evenly spaced by drawing them horizontally rather than vertically. My example here reflects this orientation and shows that Sparkool is striking however you look at it.

Lara illustrates  the step-by-step instructions for drawing Sparkool here, along with several completed Zentangles featuring her tangle.
