How to draw RAGZ

Zentangle pattern: RagzRagz is a tangle pattern from Canadian CZT® Christina Vandervlist.

“During my CZT training, one assignment was to look about our surroundings and devise a tangle from our observations. This is one … has its origins in the gigantic braided rag rug on the floor of the bedroom I was in.” Christina attended the CZT training seminar in the pre-Providence days.

Ragz is not unlike the official tangle Betweed in construction but where Betweed’s strokes are all curved Ragz is composed of all straight strokes. I got a little carried away with the white space and added the black Crescent Moon-like shapes to my example of Christina’s tangle and restated some of the basic strokes (still playing with my Micron Graphic 1).

Ragz makes a good border tangle and Christina shows it with several attractive variations, here.

Check out the tag christinav for more of Christina’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com.
