How to draw WIGWAM

Zentangle pattern: WigwamAnnet Spitteler is from The Netherlands and tells us her tangle pattern Wigwam “came into existence when I tried to translate an experiment with gesso into an embroidery pattern”.

Annet is one of many fiber artists who are also Zentangle® Zealots. Check out the beautiful embroidery stitch examples she made into a unique Personal Library of Stitches (PLOS) “book” here.

Zentangle pattern: WigwamWigwam is a surprisingly versatile tangle pattern. You can “warp” your grid which always gives interesting results with any grid-based pattern. You can alternate the direction of the rows which gives a different look and Annet shows that one with her instructions. Here on the right I played with a different pattern of fills for the shapes. Any way you choose to draw it, this is a pattern where using my dot technique for the fills comes in very handy.

Annet illustrates the steps for drawing Wigwam here. Her original gesso experiment inspiration for the pattern is shown here.

Check out the tag annets for more of Annet’s patterns on TanglePatterns.com.
