Hello Zentangle Zealots!

Let's discuss it!Welcome Zentangle Zealots and Newbies.

I love Zentangle®. And I love to see what others are doing with this particular art form. Thus this site was born with the lofty goal of providing an index and guide to the best tangle patterns found online, and how to draw them. A one-stop reference if you will, for those of you who are like me and need to know “how to do it”.

Please visit the How to Use this Site page.

There is useful information on every page on the site, although a few patterns aren’t illustrated yet. I am doing my own (gulp!) and I’m more of a geeky type than an artist, so this is taking time. What I’m saying is bookmark the site, and sign up for the email subscription or the RSS feed to get updates. Meanwhile I trust you’ll find TanglePatterns.com a handy reference already.

Please feel free to leave your comments! I sincerely welcome them. (And by the way, I have MANY more patterns and links to their “how to’s” to post, I just have to balance my time to get them added … there, that should whet your appetite.)

Cheers, Linda

PS – Please check out the Submit Your Pattern page too – I invite your contributions to make this site a great resource!

Just too much on plate right now with my hubby’s cancer fight ! I am inspired though ! Hugs to you and best wishes on keeping up ! You have done an amazing job already !! Hugs.. Kristy

Thanks so much, Kristy! I really appreciate you taking time to comment and it’s very gratifying to hear you’re enjoying the website. I’ve been following your posts and am aware you are dealing with such a tough challenge right now, but you show amazing courage. Know that you have many people “out here” pulling for you both and your children. Your drawings of your family’s hands are truly wonderful. My very best thoughts to you all. Hugs to you too, Linda

Linda – this website is wonderful! I’ve wished there was a place that consolidated all the tangles. You’ve started a monumental project, but I appreciate your efforts and have added you to my “favorites bar” to check frequently! Thank you!

    • Linda Farmer

I really appreciate your support, Betsy. There’s never a dull moment, that’s for sure! Do keep dropping in, there’s lots more to come. Cheers, Linda

You arrived in the nick of time! I was trying all kinds of things to try to keep track of patterns and then, kazoom, you flew out of that phone booth at 90 kph. I really do appreciate the work.

dang, I wasn’t finished yet! what an impatient keyboard I have. What I am wondering is if it is possible for you to either show or find some other example showing how to draw Shattuck. Yes, I have looked at Beez in the Belfrey and bought her book and bought both of MacNeil’s books. I have pages (and I mean PAGES) of attempts. For whatever reason, this one pattern absolutely eludes me. And of course, it is one pattern I long with all my heart to have under my belt. So far the only on line example I can find is Sandy’s and I think I need a few more steps. Yup, totally lame but after weeks of working on this, I am flying the white flag of surrender. I would just call it quits altogether if it wasn’t such an amazing pattern. Who knows why my brain will not compute? Any help would be ever so gratefully received. You would be driven to pity if you saw my attempts.

I’ll see what I can do for you Kim, I must admit this one gives me fits too. Give me a day or two and I’ll let you know when I have something that might help us befuddled tanglers. Cheers, Linda

I’m continuing this discussion on the Shattuck page – I’ve asked CZT Vicki Murray if she would be interested in demonstrating how she draws Shattuck and she’s graciously agreed. Watch for a link to Vicki’s post in the next day or two over on the Shattuck page.

Has anyone other than I noticed that, suddenly, tangle patterns are popping up everywhere, but most particularly on textiles? I was at my Doctor’s office the other day; the receptionist was wearing a black-on-white blouse with a graphic which bore a distinct resemblance to “Hollibaugh”. A couple weeks ago, some drapes on sale in a department store also had what I’d swear is one of our myriad gorgeous tangles. Of course, I realize there’s “nothing new under the sun”, but, seems to me, Zentangle is becoming the height of fashion!

Hi Linda, I am just new to Zentangle and ‘found’ your site as a great inspiration! So, even though you probably won’t see this I thought I’d let you know I thought I’d start at the beginning of your blogsite and learn the tangles as you put them in, along with whatever new ones come out on what seems to be a weekly basis. I’ve made up a “weeek of Zen” template for myself where I try to learn 6 tangles from your archive starting back here at the beginning, as well as anything new that week AND I do try to apply them to a Zentangle and a Zendala each week.

Thanks again! I’ll be ‘watching’ you… – Stephanie

  • Susan K Pundt

Congratulations on 6 beautiful and exceedingly useful years! You are much and widely appreciated.
